Hello,
Can someone explain limitations described in sk173494:
===
===
These new TEX appliances are successors for old ones and available since 2021/2022, so:
- why it is only R81 available?
- why there is only special R81 release available and it is not supported to install any JHF?
- is there any near future plans to obey these limitations?
BR
Daniel
I've requested some feedback regarding this internally and will update here pending a response.
Hello,
Is there perhaps some new information on the topic?
We also have a similar situation - we just bought a TE2000XN server and what - we can't update it?
We also have an older version - appliance TE2000X.
And what - the older model is better than the new one (full support for 81.20)?
Best,
It's is really suprising as these models are available from several months and signed as successors for old models. I can't imagine that such limitations can still exists.
BR
Daniel
I will update here when feedback is received.
Your welcome to follow-up with your local CP office / SE in parallel.
Regardless of major version they receive the latest TE engine & updated protections are supported.
I did it as well but also waiting for any feedback.
BR
Daniel.
sk173494 was updated recently.
More specifically, there is now the following in the Limitations section:
R81 JHFs are planned to be supported in the coming weeks.
Hello,
Thanks. Do you know the reason of such limitations? What is the difference to old models which can work without issue with R81.10 and latest JHF?
BR
Daniel.
One more question - thesse JHFs will be installed on top specialized iso for TEX appliances or new iso will be available?
BR
Daniel.
Specific driver / kernel version requirements for the newer HW is typically when such situations have occurred temporarily in the past.
Regarding the JHF to which major version are you referring?
For TE250XN specific iso R81 is only available. I'm asking about this model.
BR
Daniel.
I imagine the JHF will apply over the specific ISO currently available for that hardware but we will know more once released. Suggest following up with your local SE if this is critical information for you.
Keep in mind TE/TEX appliances are used primarily for local emulation of documents, not as firewalls in their own right.
The updates needed for that purpose happen automatically.
The base version of Gaia OS is therefore less relevant.
Having said that, I can understand the question if you’re trying to keep everything on the same release.
Is there a specific feature/functionality you’re needing in the newer release?
