CheckMates Go:
Maestro Madness
Does anyone have any information on what syntax is supported in the Anti-Spam Block List?
The documentation is not very elaborately on this. Just that I should add a "domain name or email address".
Is this a basic pattern matching? Are wildcards allowed? Is the match bound to the end?
Examples:
Does "acme.com" also match emails from "foo.acme.com"?
Does "acme.com" also match emails from "acme.company.net"
Does "@acme.com" also match?
Can I use "@*.acme.com" ?
Any information or recommendations on this are very welcome,
Thanks, Bernhard
According to my tests, it seems that wildcards do not work either.
So my conclusion is, that there are infact only two options for using the Block List.
So there's definitely room for improvement... 😉
Bernhard
Are you talking about the anti-spam on the gateway side?
The answer I got back from @CheckMatesAI suggests the following:
However, I can't find any other confirmation of this information.
Thanks Dameon, what i can tell so far is, that the string requires to include an "@" even for the domain.
...at least if i use SmartConsole, maybe this is different using the API.
While using wildcards is accepted, the question is still if they are behaving correctly. eg.
Technically, if you use * in custom url object in smart console, that would include ANY sub-domain.

Hi Andy, thanks but I'm asking about Anti-Spam Block List and not Custom Applications.

K, got it now. Apologies, not sure if same would apply there, never really "fiddled" with those settings.
Andy
As these settings are still set in SmartDashboard (not SmartConsole), I presume there is no API support.
Like I said, I found no documentation to confirm what @CheckMatesAI had to say about it.
According to my tests, it seems that wildcards do not work either.
So my conclusion is, that there are infact only two options for using the Block List.
So there's definitely room for improvement... 😉

Thanks for the update @bernhard_m
