Also nice: WatchTower now gets a push notice everytime someone logs into SMB WebGUI. But i can not disable it - Advanced Settings has no line for that, and WatchTower may need an update, look at my Notification settings:

I was wondering about that.
Does disabling the  login notification from notifications settings in device WEBUI stop it?

No, i did report the WT issue to the SMB team, they declared it is a bug and pointed out unselecting it in WebGUI - but this does not work either as there also is a bug in WebGUI that the SMB team is working at now.

Which version is recommended by Check Point for SMB appliances? 1550 model. One customer wants to upgrade SMB appliances.

For SMB appliances, we always recommend running the latest firmware (which this is as of this writing).
For Quantum (not Spark/SMB) appliances, this is currently R81.20 and is tracked here: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk95746
