Application Control/URL Filtering updates on R81.10.xx, SMB

Is anyone else having problems with application control and URL filtering updates not working on R81.10.x SMB appliances?

We have over 150 SMB appliances at multiple customers and muliple countries all failing to update with the message "Update failed. Failed to reload Application Control database".

I have a TAC case open however the last response was to upgrade the 1800 appliances (8 out of the 150+ affected devices) to R82 to see if that fixes it, and if it does then R&D wil start to look at what to do with the appliances that cannot be upgraded.

We can see via our monitoring of the affected appliances that the network traffic has increased significantly and CPU utilisation is also higher due to the appliance repeatedly attempting to perform these updates. For our customers that use Starlink for their internet service, this is resulting in them having to pay overage charges as their data caps are being exceeded.

Are these locally managed, via Spark Management Portal, or Smart-1 (Cloud)?

Hi Dameon,

All of our customer gateways are centrally managed by R82 Smartcenter servers.

I run a 1550 locally managed gateway at home, it appears to be successfully applying AppCtrl/URLF updates.

I have opened SR #6-0004573799
