Maestro Madness
Hi Guys,
Changing number of SND cores was something i struggle to find documentation on (or maybe i was just lazy)
I needed to ask our ATAM, thanks @Adamo_Rodrigues !
So decided to make a basic video on it, hope you guys like it.
Regards,
Magnus
Magnus - I believe Dynamic dispatcher support for VSX is in the pipe line, Checkpoint have threatened to implement this in a future Jumbo 😉
Would be really nice to have it, but am not going to be first to test it in production 🤣
I agree.
In the pipeline, yes.
This is a great video. I'm not sure which version you tested this on, but seems that it defaulted the SND cores automatically. I have learnt to use cpmq set rx_num all default to allocate the remaining cores for SND that are "leftovers" from the CoreXL affinity command.
The video is made on an R80.30 with the 3.10 Kernel. I believe its complaining if running cpmq and refering to run mq_mng instead. In this case the MultiQ was set to auto so yes it should pick up the leftovers 🙂
Great video! 🙂
My only note would be that most modern CP appliances have hypethreading enabled by default so don't be alarmed when you see that your SND / MQ has cores 0,1,8,9 for example on 16 core system allocated. That's expected behaviour as you MUST allocate CPU siblings both to CoreXL and SND cores.
You have it explained in the article I wrote, that's mentioned in the video 🙂
