Snapshot causes tunnels to go down
Hello,
We have a cluster of 15400s running R80.40. When we take snapshots on the gateways the VPN tunnels (we have about 20 of them) all go down for about 8 min. Also the apache server on the gateway that hosts an URL used for SSL VPN goes down too. Is this normal behavior? What else goes down? The firewall doesn't failover and traffic is passing during the snapshot.
Does this happen every time you do a snapshot?
Does anyone know the reason for this behavior?
Is this preventable?

How much load is the machine under when this occurs?
You could always perform a failover then snapshot the standby member.

I would not say its normal, but then again, its not so unexpected either. As Chris mentioned, its possible there is lots of load on the firewall when snapshot is done, thus causing the issue. I had cluster member crash once when doing this, so its always recommended to do snapshots outside work hours, preferably during maintenance window.
