Replacing/Upgrade cluster members
Hello team,
We are planning to replace all Appliances (Managements and Gateways) by new ones in our environnement.
Currently, we have 2x Smart-1 405 in a cluster and 2x 5400 also in a cluster; fourth Appliances are on R80.40.
We need to replace the former appliances by new ones as below :
- 2x Smart-1 405 in a cluster on R80.40 by 2x Smart-1 600 in a cluster on R81
- 2x 5400 in a cluster on R80.40 by 2x 5900 in a cluster on R81
What is the best and easiest way to accomplish this.
Thanks for assistance.
Regards

Good suggestion.
I note that we have to upgrade the four new appliances to R81.10 before. So what's the best and easiest way to put have the same configs (Gaia config and database) from the former management and Gateways to the new ones.

I am currently in a similar Situation. I have to replace a Cluster of 2x5100 appliances running on R80.30 with 2x6200 appliances which will be upgraded to R81.10 beforehand. Management has already been upgraded to R81.10.
So far I found this CheckMates Thread:
https://community.checkpoint.com/t5/Security-Gateways/Replace-Upgrade-Cluster/td-p/69216
This gives a good example on what has to be done it seems.
I am still somwhat new to Check Point and have never done this kind of replacement before, so I want to prepare as good as I can before the replacement.
I hope that helps a bit, I will watch this Thread in case there are more useful infos out there 🙂

Hi @Kryten
Thanks for the provided threat.
I can just noticed that Management Replacing/upgrading to new appliances is not mentioned in this thread.
