R80.30 EA - 2.6 or 3.10?

Hello,

Anyone managed to try R80.30 EA?  Submitted questionnaire and applied a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet.

What is the version of kernel included in R80.30 EA?

R80.20 with 3.10 kernel seems to work for us (we're unfortunate Gen10 owners). Do you think it'd make sense to wait for R80.30 GA or proceed with R80.20 with 3.10?

Thank you.

Currently Kernel 3.10 is only available for open server HP DL 360/380 G10 in R80.20GA and R80.30EA.

But there will be more soon.

At least in the public EA of R80.30, there were different images for management and gateway/standalone, implying different kernels for each.

Not sure about the private EA which might have an R80.30 image for gateways as well with the new kernel.

I am also curious what kernel the R80.30 EA Gateway run. Anyone whom has the possibility for doing a simple uname -a on a standalone R80.30 gateway would be appreciated. 🙂

R80.30 should be just 3.10 and not 2.6 anymore

Seems like the R80.30 released is still 2.6 on gateways and CP has an EA with 3.10.... 😞

1. R80.30 main image is still the same Gaia OS - this image is GA.

2. In parallel we are releasing R80.30 with new Linux kernel. This version is still in Early Availability but will be released within days.

3. The new flavor (3.10) will support initially: open servers and cloud (like in r80.20) as well as named specific appliances (focus on high end due to the support for large number of cores with user space firewall in this version). Over time we will enable more appliances.

4. Due to large install base and stability importance, we introduce these changes gradually. Therefore, the new linux flavor is not yet the main iso but as of r80.30 we will start to leverage it more broadly.
