Not able to install latest Take

Dear CheckMates,

From a lack of wisdom (and free space), I deleted the /opt/CPda/backup/CheckPoint#CPUpdates#All#6.0#5#4#BUNDLE_R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN#99 folder from my management server and now I'm not able to install the latest recommended Take (R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Recommended Jumbo Take 105).

The installation fails with the error message "The rollback packages cannot be used"

The management server currently is at version R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Take 99 and is working properly.

As per the recommendation of sk174103 i copied that folder from an un-updated system (security gateway) but in this case the update fails with the following message: " SmartLog R81.20 R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN - Failed on installation:
There was a problem while creating backups for the files being updated. Please try again. If the issue persists, please contact Check Point Technical Services for further assistance.More Info: Failed to extract older backup file.Source: /opt/CPda/backup/CheckPoint#CPUpdates#All#6.0#5#4#BUNDLE_R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN#99/LastTake/indexer_backup_HOTFIX_R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN.tgz. Destination: /ramdisk/ping/tmp/HFbackupBckComp_1dCwDI."

My question is, is there a way to regenerate this folder on the management server in order to be able to install Take 105?

Or another way, is there a way to install Take 105 without the content of this folder?

Many thanks!

One option to explore is to spin a temporary VM management with the required JHF and attempt to move the relevant files.

Other options would include restoring a snapshot or contacting TAC for assistance.

Thank you, it worked (with a slight change)!

For reference, I was able to install Take 105 on management server using the following steps:

  1. Installed Check_Point_R81.20_T634.iso (R81.20 Gaia Fresh Install For Security Gateway, Security Management and Standalone) on a clean VM
  2. set a temporary ip address and hostname
  3. installed Take 98 (installed this Take too, because installing Take 99 alone does not created /opt/CPda/backup/CheckPoint#CPUpdates#All#6.0#5#4#BUNDLE_R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN#99/Completly folder)
  4. installed Take 99 on top of Take 98
  5. copied over the /opt/CPda/backup/CheckPoint#CPUpdates#All#6.0#5#4#BUNDLE_R81_20_JUMBO_HF_MAIN#99 folder with its content to my problematic management server
  6. installed Take 105 on my problematic management server

I 100% agree with what @Chris_Atkinson suggested. As a matter of fact, I did that in the lab couple of times before, spun up new VM, copied needed files and issue was fixed that way.
