Non Transparent Proxy: bypass behaviour

Hi all,

I'm on the way to configure a non transparent proxy on a Security Gateway.

It's clear to me what happens to traffic what is sent to the Proxy on the defined proxy port.

we're planning to use a proxy.PAC File to define the direct connections

Question: What exactly will happen with this direct traffic, what will be sent to the FW using http(s) with its normal ports 80/443?

Will this be bypassed by the proxy on the gateway and sent to the destination with its original IP address, or will it "just" not been inspected but uses the GWs IP-Address to connect to the Destination WebServer?

Please give me a short feedback.

Many thanks and best regards

Frank

When you enable explicit proxy mode, it means that the gateway will listen on the configured port (8080 or whatever) and forward the traffic in much the same way a traditional proxy server would minus any caching.
Direct traffic should be treated normally (routed as is), assuming it matches an Access Policy rule.
The traffic will also be subject to whatever NAT rules you have configured (if any).
