Improved App Control Detection Without HTTPS Inspection + TLS 1.3 Classification

We've expanded basic detection in Application Control, which is now able to better identify more than 200 popular apps without enabling HTTPS Inspection. This includes things like Salesforce, AWS, Microsoft 365, GitLab, Netflix, and also explicit support for TLS 1.3 (identifying and categorizing it) per sk183925.

The benefits to this are clear:

  • More precise policies: Target real apps/protocols instead of “Unknown Traffic.”
  • Safer hardening: Reduce overly permissive rules with minimal breakage.
  • Cleaner visibility: Reports reflect the true app/protocol.

This is available on all releases assuming you have the latest version of the App Control signatures installed.
The first version to incorporate these changes is 070925_1.
