I'd be a bit weary. Supposedly, it only has Intel Core i5-4590S, 3.00GHz quad core CPU.

Tim Hall is the expert on  performance related issues, I suggest waiting for his verdict.

I have actually never encountered anyone running local emulation on gateways. It was either dedicated appliances or cloud-based. Can someone from community share their experience with it?

Local emulation is only supported on Threat Emulation appliances.

It is not supported on any other Check Point appliance or Open Server.
