If you detach a license so that no license is left on a gateway and then an hour or two add it back (before rebooting) to fail back to previous hardware, Will there be any changes to the firewall core config / fw worker processes config on removing the license or is that only done and checked on reboot?
I understand from experience that just removing the license doesn't cause the firewall to instantly go to 1 core. I am trying to figure out if the actually makes and changes to the firewall core config right when you remove the license or if that is done only an reboot (startup of system). Maybe cpstart also makes changes or just rebooting?
1. Will that cause the core count config to change or is the license core count config changed only done on reboot?
2. If you cpstop and cpstart after removing the license, would that also cause the fw workers to change (without rebooting) before adding it back?
I know that if you detatch a central license, you get a warning that the core count will change because of licensing if you remove a license. Is there some mechanism that gets triggered that forces that even if you add a license back before rebooting?
I am just wanting to understand this behavior as it would be useful to know for upgrades.
