Cluster shutdown and power on (remotely)

Hi,

In my company I have a cluster (2 Gateways). I know that we are going to have a scheduled power outage for some hours on the next weekend.

I would like to soft shutdown the appliances in order to avoid issues.

When the power recovers, are they going to power on automatically?

Is there any way to power on remotely the appliances?

You can certainly shutdown Gaia GWs by using "halt" command. However, you can only you can only remotely power-up those devices, if you have LOM card installed. Without LOM, I am afraid someone should still press the power on button after shutdown.

Sharing with us the model and SW version would help to give you more accurate advise.

Okay, so it according to the datasheet, it should have LOM card installed.

If you never used it, look for LOM manual on the product page. The LOM card needs to be configured for proper use. Mind, you will have to have out of band access to LOM to power your GW off or on. Make sure the required network connectivity exists and is properly tested.

Thank you very much for the details.

I suppose that I will need VPN access in order to be able to power on the Gateways.

The problem is that the VPN access runs through this cluster.

I am thinking to power off (soft) the one (A) of the devices just to be safe and sure that the one of my devices will not have issues from the power outage. The other device (B) will stay online until the power outage and will become "up" when the power recovers. If (B) is up with no issues, then I will have access to LOM in order to power on device (A).

FWs will not come up unattended. Someone needs to press the power button.

Even if we have LOM configured?

If LOM is active, and the power is up, you can use it. However, without either access to LOM or pushing a physical button, an appliance will not power on.
