Analyze CPU Usage of fwk process for one VS on VSX

Hello,

we are running VSX on R77.30. One VS, which has already 4 CoreXL instances assigned, showed a significant increase in CPU Usage from one day to another. There were no significant changes in the customers environment, no IPS update or other updates we can pinpoint.

Is there a way to further analyze which exact blades and/or connections cause how much CPU usage? We have IPS, Application Control and Anti-Bot enabled, but IPS goes into Bypass due to CPU usage.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I would start with top and see which processes are chewing your four CPU cores - is it fwk or something else? Do you use statically allocated cores (affinity) for your VSX? What does fwaccel stats -s show?

Hello,

maybe I was not clear enough. It is an open server with 12 physical cores, 8 licensed coreXL instances, and 4 coreXL instances allowed for this VS. The fwk_9 process is having a peak of ~330% CPU Usage, and we are not sure why. We are graphing CPU Usage for each fwk process, and this process started using significantly more CPU percentage from one day to another.

fwaccel stats -s shows:

# fwaccel stats -s
Accelerated conns/Total conns : 215/62217 (0%)
Accelerated pkts/Total pkts   : 359622/643817836 (0%)
F2Fed pkts/Total pkts   : 45424676/643817836 (7%)
PXL pkts/Total pkts   : 598033538/643817836 (92%)
QXL pkts/Total pkts   : 0/643817836 (0%)

But I guess that this is correct given that we are running with IPS enabled.
