Upgrading checkpoint 1800 HW appliance from r80.20 to 80.40

Hi All,

I have checkpoint 1800 HW appliance running r80.20  and I want two things first to upgrade the Gaia OS to r80.40 and second to restore backup from one of my existing box whch runs r80.40.

The challenge I get is I make the USB stick bootable using ISOMorphic however I got the error attached when I try to boot from the usb flash, and the backup I get from the existing has .gz extention however the 1800 box only accepts .img file

Please any help on the above problems

ISOmorphic is not used for SMB/Spark appliances nor are R80.20 or R80.40 valid versions for these appliances running GAiA embedded.

Do you mean R80.20.20 versus R80.20.40 ?  The upgrade can be done natively via the Web UI by uploading the new image and no manual backup restoration is required afterward. Restoring backups from different hardware also isn't possible.

Note for reference R81.10.05 is the latest firmware available for the 1800 series.

There isn't a R80.40 release for embedded appliances. The next jump is R81.10.x: https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solut...

The backup from your maintrain appliance won't be compatible with embedded either.

Is that possible to manage the 1800 HW Appliance r80.20 or 81.20 box using 80.40 SMS smart-1 625?

Yes if the 1800 is R80.20.xx otherwise the SMS needs to be upgraded prior.
