Migration from standalone to distribute

Hi all,

My customer has checkpoint spark 1575 with local management. They want to migrate from local management to central management using Smart1.

I have some questions, because the checkpoint spark is new for me.

1. Any limitation from local management with central management?

2. What are the step by steps in general for changing local management to central management?

3. How about a configuration existing like a policy? It will be lost or can migrate

thanks.

Please find the high level answers below as requested.

1. Please see sk178604: Check Point R81.10.X for 1500, 1600, 1800, 1900, and 2000 appliance Known Limitations

2. Home > Overview > Security Management > Central (save)

Refer: https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/SMB_R81.10.X/Help/Locally_Managed/EN/Content/Topics/Setting-Man...

See also (S1C): https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Infinity_Portal/WebAdminGuides/EN/Check-Point-SmartCloud-Admin-...

3. Policy must be captured prior & recreated, typically it would be considerably less than 100 rules so hopefully not to much effort.

Central Management fort Sparks using Smart-1 (On Premise or Infinity Cloud) is for customers that also manage GAiA GWs with the same Smart-1 and need SmartProvisioning / Large Scale Mangement for managing a big number of Spark appliances as well as all the logs from GAiA and GAiA Embedded GWs in one place.

As this has a (rather heavy) price tag, most Spark-only users manage their appliances using the Infinity Cloud SMP as the license is included with every Spark and the SMP makes firmware upgrades, backups, long-term logging a.o. very easy !
