Migrate from SMB Appliance 1100 to 1550

Hi,

Looking for guide to migrate configuration from CP SMB Appliance 1100 to 1550.

Based on the download center, 1100 highest firmware is R77.20.80

https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=o...

Below link is guide to upgrade from r77.20.87 (Appliance 700) to r80.20.15 (Appliance 1500)

https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solut...

Can 1100 upgrade to r77.20.87 and perform the same as well? I only can find Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R77.20.87 for model 700, 900, 1400.

I will let SMB gurus confirm, but the only relevant link I found is below, but does not cover 1100 series though:

https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solut...

Based on below, 1100 is NOT listed:

@kmwong

Upgrade from 600/1100 to directly 1500 with those procedures is not supported. Only 700/900/1400 to 1500/1600/1800.
If you need to upgrade from 1100 to 1550, you will need to first migrate to 700/1400 and then migrate to 1550.

<upgrade path>
R77.20.80 on CP1100 -> R77.20.87 on CP700/1400 -> R80.20.15 or later on CP1500

note: R77.20.80 is the final release for 600/1100 series

If you don't have a 700/1400 as a step, it may be easier to configure 1550 from scratch depending on your setup.

That probably should work.

For me exporting from the 1100 and importing to the 1500 directly worked fine.

do you mean backup and restore configuration?

I did tried backup from 1100 (R77.20.80) and restore to 1550 (R80.20.25), the 1550 box take in the config (Interfaces, IP Address, user password, expert password), but not response to ping and cannot access GAIA portal.

But is that even officially supported??

Hi

unfortunately it is not.

you will need to import to 700/1400, and then to 1500

I would just try - use R80.20.40 for import. If many defined objects should be kept, also this could be helpfull:  Configuration transfer between different SMB models

Thank you and appreciate for all the advices. Just to update my finding and I had success migrate the box. Both method works, I use the direct method of course.

Direct 1100 -> 1550

Upgrade1100 to R77.20.80

Upgrade 1550 to R80.20.40

Backup 1100 configuration and restore to 1550.

All configuration are restored (I have a little issue only the DHCP Setting - DNS Server is wrong).

SIC connection to Management Server will remain.

Push Policy from Management Server

2 Steps 1100 -> 1490 -> 1550

Upgrade1100 to R77.20.80

Upgrade 1490 to R77.20.87

Backup 1100 configuration and restore to 1490.

Backup 1490 configuration and restore to 1550.

1550 can be in factory firmware R80.20.15 or upgraded R80.20.40

All configuration are restored
