SD-WAN versus ISP Redundancy
This topic came up in our recent SD-WAN TechTalk.
While SD-WAN does have an additional cost to it, the capabilities are far greater than is currently possible with our ISP Redundancy feature in Quantum appliances.
Here is a brief comparison, which comes from sk180605:
Feature | SD-WAN | ISP Redundancy |
License requirement | Yes | No |
Traffic steering based on a service or application
Traffic steering using an ISP link with best characteristics
Monitoring of ISP link characteristics

VPN transport protocol | IPsec | IPsec |
