User internet stops working after connecting on SNX

Hi,

I hope you are doing well!!!

We are experiencing an issue similar to the sk182749, but in our case the connection is not working when the user connects on the mobile access portal and starts the SNX connection, after that the user's machine can't reach the internet (not even the local gateway) the windows version is 24H2

In general, there appear to be issues with 24H2 and VPN clients.
For non-SNX clients, we have a solution: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk182749
For SNX, it's not yet clear if the issue is similar, but it doesn't appear there is a solution yet.
I do see TAC cases reporting similar issues.

Hi,

Thank you, in this case I will go ahead and create a ticket with TAC

I would absolutely do that, cause last time I spoke to TAC about this, guy actually mentioned SNX and he said there was no official fix for it yet. I did not inquire more, but to me sounded like there might be some sort of custom portfix, not sure.

Looks like we have a fix for this similar to the one for the regular VPN client on 24H2.
The necessary change needs to be made on the registry of the affected client per: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk182923

Hi,

Yes, this SK was created recently (2024-12-13) after opening the case with TAC they provided me this SK, I will test it

You can also run the following command in CMD (Run as administrator) to add the desired registry key.

> reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cpextender" /v "MetricSetMethod" /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Step 2:
Restart the SNX service by typing in CMD:

> net stop cpextender

> net start cpextender

Step 3: Login the Mobile Access Portal and check the SNX connection again.

Regards,

Wei
