Proxy vs reverse proxy

Hey guys,

Im sure lots of people already know this, but in case you dont, great video for reference. I had some people get confused about it, so this video is great explanation reference.

I believe Checkpoint does not support reverse proxy, and forward proxy is pretty basic in the GUI, would be nice to see this developed more.

I maintain the difference is proxies are real things, and "reverse proxies" are not. The things people call "reverse proxies" are exactly the same software capable of doing exactly the same filtering. Makes as much sense as calling a firewall in front of a web server a "reverse firewall", or a router in a datacenter a "reverse router".

"Serverless" bugs me for much the same reason. There are so many servers involved in deploying a "serverless" function.

I would argue that reverse proxies are indeed real thing and there are lots of people are using them.
