migrate-import-domain, "Global domain was purged" error

Hello,

I am trying to migrate a domain from an MDS to another one. Both servers are on the same OS and hotfix level.

I followed the sk156072.

First, I exported the CMA successfully with the command below:

mgmt_cli migrate-export-domain domain <DOMAIN_NAME> file-path /var/migrate/CMA_out.tgz

Then I transferred the file to the new MDS and ran the command below:

mgmt_cli migrate-import-domain file-path /var/migrate/CMA_out.tgz

But unfortunately I ran across this error:

suppressed: false
task-details: []
comments: "Failed: Global domain was purged."

The SmartConsole shows the same error and no details.

Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

Thank you.

There's a note in sk156072 that seems relevant: "Restoring a Domain with Global Policy is supported only if the assigned Global Domain Revision (while taking the CMA backup) was not purged."
If assigning a different global policy (or unassigning it) and taking the backup again doesn't resolve the issue, I recommend engaging with the TAC.

Thank you.

I saw the same note, but I didn't think it was relevant because I was doing import/export, not backup/restore.

If I can't use mgmt_cli for the migration, what other options do you think I have? It looks like cma_restore is not supported and migrate import doesn't want to work either.

Thanks.

The process for both is similar.
Believe you’re supposed to do this using mgmt_cli or possibly using migrate_server.
A consult with the TAC is probably necessary here.
