how to fetch branches on external LDAP server

Hi there , I'm trying to add a LDAP server for one of my remotely managed clients. The LDAP server and the Multi Domain Security server are not on the same network . They do not have connectivity except for SIC> How do i configure this ?

See the Identity Awareness Admin Guide under the section Configuring Identity Awareness Gateway as Active Directory Proxy.
This requires R80.20+ gateways.

Hmmm we have a  1550 gateway cluster running 80.20 but it does not allow me to select this gateway object as a proxy. 

I see it says embedded GAIA is not support but 80.20 is .

R80.20 on Embedded Gaia (used on SMB appliances like the 1550) is different from R80.20 on Gaia (used on other appliances).
Sounds like, in your case, this is an RFE.
Recommend engaging with your local Check Point office around this requierment.
