What is the maximum file-size supported by R80 for booting?

Hi,

GAiA R77.30 uses ext3 File-system and it's based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 supporting 2TiB maximum for booting. When we need to add some extra storage for logging it takes more time to configure new drives after OS installation completes and it is not comfortable at all. What can we expect from R80 in this point?

Pretty sure this is a limitation of the kernel version (2.6.18) Gaia is using, and the kernel version does not appear to be changing for Gaia R80 Management.  Can't speak authoritatively for R80.10 gateway, but I doubt the kernel version will be changing for that release either.

Dear Tim,

Based on SK: sk61081 we read:

Booting from hard disk than 2 TB is possible only when:

a) EFI mode is enabled in BIOS.

b) OS kernel supports EFI mode.

Currently, EFI is not supported by any Check Point OS (such support might be added in the future)

I think it's time to upgrade RHEL platform in R80 (or next versions) and use ext4 or XFS file systems what modern world  requires and not ext3.
