Snapshot R81.10 - no description
Hi,
just installed HF78 on a R81.10 appliance:
Using a standard manual snapshot, I can't see the description anymore.
Looks something is wrong or I misunderstood something.
Regards
MDS> add snapshot R8110_09_11_2022 desc "R8110 no FTW, HF78 dummy IP"
Taking snapshot. You can continue working normally.
You can use the command 'show snapshots' to monitor creation progress.
MDS> show snapshots

Try something without special characters like you now have (the spaces and , )
"R8110 no FTW, HF78 dummy IP"
"R8110_no_FTW_HF78_dummy_IP"
"R8110noFTWHF78dummyIP"
I think if you create snapshot via web interface it will give you an error (if it is not VSX, then there is no webGui).
If you like this post please give a thumbs up(kudo)! 🙂

hi
indeed, it works in this way:
MGMT> show snapshot R8110_09_11_2022a all
date Wed Nov 9 14:50:19 2022
size 15.03G
description R8110noFTWHF78dummyIP
However with R80.40, there was no such a limitation:
MGMT8040> show snapshot R8040_13_10_2022 desc
description mdsimport com 12oct2022 HF156
Thanks
Regards

It appears we removed the capability for the description to contain spaces due to some issues this was causing.
To allow spaces in the description, you'll have to request a hotfix from TAC (refer to PRJ-38384).
It's not currently available through JHF.
