SmartView Monitor Upgrade When?

Hello;

We are rolling out VPNs and would like to be using SmartView Monitor for a quick look but this has proven to be un-reliable and presenting false info most of the time.  Every time policy is pushed it changes what is displayed for our VPNs.

Going into the cli and looking produces accurate results,

Would have thought by R81.10 that this would have been upgraded to look and feel and work like the rest of the dashboard.

Any idea as to when or if this will be upgraded.

Tried the web console as well but cannot even get it launch from there.

Thanks

There was some discussion of using a SmartConsole Extension to make site-to-site VPN status directly available in the SmartConsole but it doesn't appear to have been implemented, tagging @Danny for an update:

Show VPN tunnels status directly in SmartConsole

There were however a few SmartConsole Extensions implemented for Remote Access VPN users/statistics, looking at how these were implemented might be helpful to reach your goal:

First make sure you have a license for SmartView Monitor (CPSB-MNTR), as Monitor is available with limited functionality to all customers, however to see advanced details (such as "Monitor Tunnels") a license for SmartView Monitor (CPSB-MNTR) must be installed on the Security Management server or Multi-Domain Management  level of your Multi-Domain Management server.

Then make sure the monitoring blade is enabled on the GWs. If the problem is not resolved, i would suggest to contact TAC !

In all honesty and this is a fact, SV monitor has been flaky since probably R65 and even most TAC people will tell you the same. When will it get fixed, no one really knows...Having said that, I do find it useful for lots of things, but sadly, results are not always 100% accurate.

Thanks for all the replies.  We are correctly licensed and Today without doing anything, they are showing correctly.  Looking forward to any new scripts to try, thanks Danny.

SmartView Monitor is one of the legacy management apps.
It has not, to my knowledge, received any updates since R8x, though various SKs suggest that bugs like this are being fixed.
I highly recommend engaging with the TAC with this issue.

Thanks for the Reply but that's my point.  It's a legacy management app but should have stayed up with all the evolution through R8x.x if it's going to be offered with R8x.x it should be as stable and worth using like the rest of the Dashboard.

If I didn't have the history of R60 +.  looking at this application (Smartview Monitor) and looking at Dashboard,  I would think 2 different Companies wrote it.

Just my 2 cents but I think it's time for Check Point to put some resources toward making this a usable integrated part of Dashboard within the R81 and beyond.
