Good afternoon all
We purchased a new Smart-1 600-S device 2 years ago to replace our aging Smart-1 205 device. The migration project kept getting pushed back to allow for more pressing issues. Needless to say, the Smart-1 205 is still humming happily along.
Unfortunately, it cannot be upgraded past R80.40.
In the next few weeks, I am going to be performing a Multi-Version Cluster upgrade on my two security gateways upgrading them from R80.40 to R81.20. I figured now is a good time to retire the 205 and allow her to rest in a nice dark corner of my data closet. 🙂
Our config on the old SmartEvent box is by no means complicated, but I'd rather not have to configure the new appliance from scratch.
The few times I've researched how to migrate my old config onto the new Smart-1 600-S, I've ran into a brick wall or it's ended in confusion.
Is this an easy endeavor? Can someone direct me to a good KB article that outlines the steps I would need to take to export the old config, import it onto the new box and simply re-establish SIC on the new SmartEvent appliance?
Thanks guys!
-Joe
Hey brother, is this strictly smart event appliance or mgmt server as well? Because if mgmt, then you can just follow below:

For smart event only, maybe below link is helpful

You got it, yes. Well, as long as all "entities" so to speak are on R81.20, then you are fine, because at that point, no need to worry about old SE server, it can simply be turned off.

Thanks Andy! -
So this is a standalone SmartEvent server. I'd like to migrate the old one to the new one. It looks like the second link is the way to go?
I think I need to get my new appliance to the same version as my current appliance, which is R80.40. Do the migration, then upgrade my new appliance to R81.20.
Does this sound like a good work flow?
My "grey" area is what to do once the new SmartEvent appliance is upgraded. How do I demote the old server and promote the new server and perform SIC with the management server?
