I think it really doesn't matter of gateways model...

I think there is no a concrete number of maximum managed appliances of each type. Because it is highly dependent on many additional factors:
Will there be a separate log server? How many logs gateways would generate daily? What blades will be enabled on the management server and on gateways? Will it be used as a multi-domain server? How many policies would be configured? How many rules and objects would be configured in each policy? And so on.
From the description of the server and of the license you can make a conclusion that 150 enterprise-level gateways can be managed for sure. But again in real life it would depend on all the additional factors.

Hi Aleksei,
thank you but still it is unclear. If i am not wrong there is no limit of gateway for multi domain but datasheet stated maximum is 5000 smb appliances.
Nevertheless thank you for all the replies. Probably only internal people will know.

Hi Mates. Although this topic is almost 7 years old is still a misery to me on how many gateways it can support.
I have a customer with 3 x Smart-1 5150 and about 190 gateways spread across. There's also a dedicated log server.
He wants to move all 190 gateways to a single Smart-1 5150. Appliances are various .. 5600, 7000, 9300, 16000 and I'm not sure if it will support them.
They also have "unlimited" licenses I was told.
Any hint on this one ?
Thank you

Is it setup as Multi-domain Management currently...
How much RAM does each system have installed, what is the average CPU load of each machine?

The only way they’d have “unlimited” gateways support is with an old Open Server license (we stopped selling the unlimited ones more than 10 years ago).
Smart-1 appliances were never sold with Unlimited licenses.
I imagine the actual answer to this will depend on more than just the number of gateways (size of policy, number of domains, software release).
R82 supports 500 gateways per domain.
In earlier releases, it’s closer to 100 per domain.
I would validate the planned configuration with your local Check Point SE.
