CheckMates Go:
Maestro Madness
Hello,
It's a bit weird that I have to spend more than half an hour on CheckPoint doc and/or CheckMates to NOT find an answer to a question.
May we delete all subdirectories from /var/log/opt related to SMS upgrade from 81.20 to 82? Meaning deleting those ending in R81.20.
A fact, before the upgrade the standard backup took 25 GB and after is taking 150 GB. Obviously, a cleaning is need it.
Too many SK I've read and opinions without not finding an answer.
Shouldn't CheckPoint made this a bit clear? Best cleaning practice after upgrade?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
JHF take 41 fixed the issue
Depending on what JHF you upgraded to on R82, there's a bug that causes the backups to be bigger (Fixed in Take 41, see https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk183835).
Speaking to your question about /var/log/opt, I haven't seen any generic guidance about this above and beyond "contact TAC."
Hi PhoneBoy,
Thanks for your feedback. I was thinking maybe there is a bug. Every week, the backup is increasing with at least 20 GB.
I will let you know after I'm applying the JFH Take 41 as recommended.
If you end up deleting anything else, please make sure NOT to delete anything database related.
Andy
Hi Andy,
Thanks, I know this. First I'm waiting for the JHF take 41 to see if solves the issue with the backup, then I will do some cleaning.
KR,
Catalin
I just say it now to everyone, because once poor customer did it unintentionally, but thank God I had older backup, so we were able to get access back with some additional changes later.
Andy
Unintentional F***ups, like they say. Thank God you had a good backup/usable.
After I heard it first in a movie, "the assumption is the mother of all F***ups" became my mantra.
Catalin
I think there is a saying assume can also mean you make a** out of u and me lol
Anyway, I totally agree, assumptions are not a good thing, regardless the situation.
Andy
JHF take 41 fixed the issue
Good job!
