Migrate Export vs Snapshot

Hopefully a quick answer question. I am trying to migrate current Smart Manager from one VM to a new VM managed in a different VM environment. The new manager will have new IP address information and I am assuming a snapshot will overwrite that IP information with the current manager's IP info but unsure if migrate export would do this as well of if either solution is viable and I should just build the new manager from the ground up.

Thanks for any info

Follow the procedure here: sk40993: How to change the IP Address of a Security Management Server?

Additionally, you have to perform a (server_)migrate export, then install a new SMS and perform a (server_)migrate import to the new VM. Also see sk103356 - How to renew SIC after changing IP Address of Security Management Server.

Thanks for the info and yes the new manager is already built with the new IP so good there,  I just wanted to make sure when i migrated to it the current IP would not be overwritten to the new one as accessing the new VMware environment for the box is a small bit of a pain with the current setup. So as long as that is not the case should be ok.

Looks like it will overwrite it from the requirements stated below in documentation:

IPv4:

The target must use the same IP address configuration as the source. If the source uses IPv6, you must change it to IPv4 before you can migrate.

I'll just have to get in after the fact and change looks like at least i know, thanks for the assistance all.
