As I understand it, you would do a trade-in up to next size SKU; the CPSM-NGSM25, CPSM-NGSM50 or CPSM-NGSM150. When you have a CPSM-NGSM150, then this can be extended with a CPSB-GW-EXT-50.

There is an option to expand the management(CPSM-NGSMx) for more GWs and it is under the SKU CPSM-C500.
This is a unique expansion and offers +5 GWs.
Hope my answer is helpful for others who have the same question.

Hi,
That's not right, CPSM-C500 applies for Multidomain only, regular CPSM-NGSM licenses are not additive. If more gateways are required to be managed, you should upgrade to the next level.
Thanks.

It is possible - either to add an additional license or to trade of a new one.
The best course of action is to contact Account Services:

Hi Tal,
Our distributor asked our local checkpoint team to ensure this and we got the following answer when asked if we could use CPSM-NGSM10 + CPSM-C500 together:
"That SKU is one of the legacy ones before NGSM was released. Correct, you cannot combine that with NGSM and it is only applicable when there is a pre-NGSM license used. In most other cases, licenses are not additive. “
The scenario here was: Customer has a CPSM-NGSM25 where the cost to renew it is expensive. The customer needs just 13 Gateways to be managed.
The point is: CPSM-NGSM10 states the license is not additive and CPSM-C500 states cannot be used on the NSGM Smart-1 or Open server SKUs. Thus, are we sure we can use it?
Thanks.

You cannot use this combination of SKU / licenses.
There are however add-on SKU to go beyond 150 gateways but this is not the requirement here.

I think you should contact Account Services to receive a definitive answer.

I have received the same answer from Check Point: "you cannot combine C500 with NGSM".
In my humble opinion, this point should be reviewed by Check Point as it takes away competitiveness versus other vendors that have more accessible and flexible on-premises management options. Check Point forces you to always go for a higher and more expensive license to have on-premises management and not to mention the cost of renewal and subscriptions (SmartEvent & Reporting and Compliance) which also increases the more gw you manage.
In the example you indicate, if you have to manage just 13 gw, you are forced to purchase a 25 gw license, so in the end you end up paying for NOT USING almost half of the capacity.
