Does MDS Backup causes CMAs to down
Good Morning
We run backup each weekend and this weekend I noticed an alert came that CMAs on one of the MDS's were down.
the only thing That was happening when the alert came in was a backup. When backup of the MDSs are done, does the CMAs down as part of the backup process? I know that when you run it manually they are stopped. Is that the same thing for the cronjob script?

mds_backup: You can use the "-s" flag to stop the processes by default it does not stop the process: mds_backup

In some cases when you are short on memory and or diskspace (keep in mind you need at least 3 to 5 times the space of the eventual backup file) monitoring systems can be led to believe your CMA's are down, which they probably aren't but the system is just to busy repackaging the backup file in the final stage. Depending on the number of CMA's and size of each of them can be anywhere between 1GB to 25GB (when the file is bigger than this, you should be looking at offloading more CMA's to another MDS)
