Copy/Move objects from one virtual system to another virtual system on MDS

Good Day

We have a Checkpoint VSX with multiple virtual systems. I have been tasked rationalize one virtual system policies with another. Basically need the same rules on both virtual systems. This is a very time consuming task to create new objects etc. Is there a method to copy/move the objects from different virtual systems ?

Are you using Multi-domain Management with the Virtual Systems in separate Domains?

Hi @daryl10

Basically API commands can be a good approach for moving objects between policies

For eg. hosts:

If you want to have same rulebase for 2 different VSs, why not create/migrate VS in question to the domain where policy is already in place ?

That might be faster solution compared to creating all network objects and mantaining both Domains to have same policy package content.

You can create new VS on Domain where policy package is already in place, use vsx_provisioning_tool to delete all interfaces from existing VS and same tool for creating all needed interfaces (with same IPs). This approach will require downtime.

Kind regards,

I'm a bit new to he VSX environment but I will query with my seniors. I would also assume this was considered during the decision process as well. Also downtime may be an issue as well.
