Calling Up User Identities in Policy

I have a customer request to integrate Check Point with AD so that they could call up user identities instead of IPs in their policies

is this possible?

has anyone done this before?

Yes, this feature is called Identity Awareness by Check Point. You will find varios ressources about that, when searching for this term. The offical "Identity Awareness Admin Guide" for the version of your customer would be a good starting point.
