Bulk add user groups with dbedit

Hi,

is there a way to bulk create user groups with dbedit (R77.30)? I have managed to extract the groups from the source management but bulk-adding them with dbedit always fails. Is there anything special to note? I tried with "dbedit -local -globallock -f input" and the input file in format:

create user_group name1
update users name1
create user_group name2
update users name2
...
savedb

Command fails with an error that states that the object was already created by another user.

I'm pretty sure I just made a stupid mistake..

Not 100% sure you have the update syntax correct.
At least from the scripts I've used in the past, I do something like:

create user_group Marketing
create user_group Sales
create user_group HR
create user_group Development
create user_group Operations
create user_group Finance
update_all

Of course, this also begs the question why you're still using R77.30 🙂

Of course this is a valid question. The answer is: Some customers are resistant to advice. 🙄

Anyway. Guess what solved the problem? A simple dos2unix <dbedit script>.
Although I created it on the management itself.

*sigh*

Thanks for your help anyway!

That wouldn't have occurred to me either, but glad you figured it out.
