default credentials for 9100

Hello,

We have just received a new paar of gateways 9100.

First at all: the way of connection via console provided in the video tutorial is terrible - send a link via Whatsapp? Are you serious? why not just provide it on the documentation page? 🤦‍

Now I'm connected via USB-C Console and can't login... the default password is incrorrect:

When I try empty credentials it asks me about a verification code - what is it? where can I get it?

I did a facrory reset already - it didn't help... So, what actually is the default username and password for CP 9100?

Thank you in advance! 🙏

Download your own ISO and install that one. I think something is up with de factory ISO. See also: https://community.checkpoint.com/t5/Security-Gateways/Brand-new-appliance-with-non-default-IP-on-Mgm...

Thats odd...my colleague and I set 4 of them up the other day and it was admin / admin, even said the same in little booklet that came with it. You may want to double check with TAC on this.

Thanks, it helped, I just needed to find a non-company computer where I could use USB 😂

I think you need to run the first-time setup wizard from the MGMT GUI first (admin/admin) before CLI works.

Technically you dont, it works even before that.

I can't run the first-time setup wizard because I'm already being asked for the credentials...

Are you able to try factory reset it and test?

I reset already - it didn't help

I guess the only thing left then is what @Lesley suggested. Other than that, you can call TAC and see if they have any other suggestions.

Any luck with this?

So the GUI throws the same error? I only see the CLI error posted.

The GUI has even more strange behavior - it doesn't show any error, but just jumps to the fist page 🤷🏼‍

You don't have to use the web UI at all. You can configure a Check Point firewall or management entirely from the command line using config_system.

As for the actual issue, "factory default" on the box is just a snapshot with a weird name. It can be modified to set a non-default password, enable TOTP, and so forth, and every time you "restore to factory defaults", it will go back to that non-default configuration. @Exonix, you need to download the ISO for the version you want to run, write it to a thumb drive with ISOmorphic, and reinstall the boxes using that drive. That will definitely get you back to the default admin:admin credential.

Apparently, no one understands what I am saying.

OP is having issues via the CLI, please just test the GUI and see if you have the same issue.

To me, sounds like issue is the same no matter what method is used. But, I could wrong, would not be first OR last time lol

No, I understand. The GUI is strictly worse than the CLI for setting up a firewall, though. It provides less information about problems, and it's basically impossible to automate.

All of that is beside the point, though. Authentication needs to work before either first-time config method can be attempted.
