VPN Debugging Issues - "TOPO_SRV_ENABLED" and "VPN Acceleration Disabled Due to PPPoE Interface"

While debugging VPN on a FW, I found the following errors in the logs:

  • vpn_cmain: Couldn't find TOPO_SRV_ENABLED in registry, setting it to 1
  • VIF_HandlePPP: disabling VPN acceleration due to PPPoE interface

I followed the instructions provided by the vendor (SK articles sk151114 and sk92590), but was unsuccessful in resolving the issue.

This issue is occurring on an Appliance 3000 running R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Take 76 whit MPLS and PPPoE interfaces.

Has anyone encountered similar issues or can offer any additional troubleshooting steps?

For TOPO_SRV_ENABLED, recommend to disable it with: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk132712
PPPoE disabling acceleration is expected behavior: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk32578

What is the actual issue you are trying to troubleshoot?

Are there any issues or is this only cosmetic?

If secureXL works correctly it wil mean that vpn accel will also work. In this case it is a pppoe interface. SecureXL is not supported for that

SecureXL does not support Point-to-Point interfaces (PPP, PPTP, PPPoE). In case a PPP-interface is detected, SecureXL disables itself on that interface (hence the name 'non-accelerated interface').

So the error message makes sense for me.
