System backup

Please let me know why system backup file is too big (in my case over 2.5 GB)

I have some issue doing schedule backup on SCP server, during the process it is interrupted, I think the reason is too big file (attached picture)

Wheather installations of JHF (Jumbo Hotfixes) increase a file size?

This is rather small - in https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk108902 we read:

System Backup

Size of output file on Security Gateway: Depends on configuration

Size of output file on Management Server: 5-100 GB

Hi @babicmilan

The installation of Jumbo should not affect the size of the backup.

What version is your machine?
What type of machine (GW/VSX/MGMT/MDS)?
Is TE on?

Hello, version is Gaia R81.20, type is gateway. Yes, TE blade is activated.

Hi,

on gateways I see mostly less than 100 MB.

However, I would check some directory if you have hotfixes or crashdumps which are obviously included.

Yes, in my case it is gateway. I'm interested in what icreases system backup file, installation of Jumbo Hotfixes or something other.

Did you follow up on this? Or just accepted it?

After enabling TE, the backup of a gateway (R81.10) in our environment jumped from 120MB to 2.5GB.
Among other things, the backup contains /var/log/files_repository which seems to contain a lot of TE related files (extracted size is 2.8G alone). I guess these are necessary locally so that the gateway can start working with TE without having to wait for a policy push.

Can you check if you still have previous versions files present? What does df -h output look like?
