Smart console 80.30 error "Unable to connect to server"

Hello,

I am new to checkpoint, wanted to use checkpoint for IPSec configuration. I launched checkpoint R80.30 in AWS and did initial configuration using GAIA. I installed smart console 80.30 but when trying to access the server using smart console it fails with error "Unable to connect to server". Can some one please tell what can be the issue ? where to check for the errors etc ?

How precisely did you perform the install from what precise images?
Also note that SmartConsole connects to management servers not gateways.
So if you only installed a gateway, you also need to install management.

I had used AWS AMI "CloudGuard IaaS Next-Gen Firewall with Threat Prevention" and looks like it does not have Management Server. What is the difference between Security Gateway and Security Management Server, I am little confused ? Do I need to use AMI which has both ? Can I install management server on the existing security gateway which I launched ?
