Security Gateway Virtual Machine - Unable to Access Maintenance mode

Hi,

I've Security Gateway that runs on a ESXI host. R81.20 Take 90.
I want to get in to "maintenance mode" to configure some within lvm_manager. However I'm completely unable to do this.

When I click on "Start In Maintenance mode" under the boot menu. I'm prompted with "Enter Username" --> thereafter "Enter Password".

My admin credentials with my admin password doesn't work.
My admin credentials with my expert password doesnt work either.

Tried with my "grub" user aswell, doesn't work either.

This Is nuts.

I'm just getting kicked back to the main menu were I can choose an alternative again from the boot menu.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

The keymapping is english? Did you test it?

To be shure, did you use the GAIA portal credentials?

Yes tested that.

What do you mean by "did you use the GAIA portal credentials?"

I'm able to login to my GAIA portal with my admin credentials.
Also when I ssh, + expert works fine aswell.

Hard to inverigate this.

I would create a new user with a really simple password, and I would give try. Maybe key mapping etc.

But with what user should I login with?
When I choose "Enter Maintenance mode". Is It with my "grub" or "admin" user?

Just to clairfy things up.

And ye I have changed my grub password + admin password + expert password.
But It doesn't work.

GRUB password is only on physical appliances.

Okey! In my case that runs on a virtual appliance.
I should then use the "admin" user?

Unable to login with my "admin" credentials.

You need to use admin credentials.

Not "admin" and then --> my expert password?

Because neither of those combinations works.

When I put in my password and click enter I'll comeback to the main menu 😞

Have you tried resetting the password via Gaia Portal?

Just for clarification. You know it asks for username and password when you install the OS for the first time? Did you enter different creds there or were they the same?

I know it'll be obvious but, have you tried sk118973?

Ooh clarify more please.

What username and password when I installed the OS? I've know changed my "admin" + expert password back and forth.

What should this even matter?

What differes the username + password when I installed It fort the first time?

I would create a new user with a really simple password without special charatest.

And one more thing, did you change password on GAIA portal or CLI! Do you 100% about you save the config?

All right!

A user with kind of rights? Another admin user just?

I changed the password in the GAIA Portal.
No need to save config then right?

When you're installing the system it asks for password two times. At least in my labs, I set the same password for convenience.

I edited my previous answer, so in case you didn't notice, I'll repeat:

I know it'll be obvious but, have you tried sk118973?

Followed along with that SK.

According to "AkosBakos" I should not use GRUB. It's only for Physical Appliances.

That's a mystery to me. But creating a new user may actually help. And doing save config, even after making changes on web GUI.

Hi @Forsaken_61

If it helps, I have a test environment, and we can test the steps there, how it works.
