Management Server Migration from Physical to VM

Hello Team,

We are migrating our Management Server from a physical server to a virtual machine, currently we are running 81 & migrating to 81.20.

Can anyone provide us Pre-migration & Post-Migration steps.

Any further info required let me know.

Hi Mitesh,

Be aware of the sizing of your VM.
Simple overview of the steps:

  1. Deploy new virtual machine with R81.20 and install the latest hotfix on top. Use the same IP address. (Keep the interface disconnected)
  2. Do a migrate export on the old machine
  3. Shutdown or disconnect the old machine
  4. Connect the network interface on the VM
  5. Do a migrate import

If the new machine has the same IP address then it is not required.

If it has a different IP address a new license will be needed.

Hi @Mitesh

I would like to add a note to what @Tal_Paz-Fridman said. Yes you will need a new license, and you can get it from your account. You have to relicence it to the new IP. And dont forget tha contract file too.
