Insufficient Storage when Installing Hotfix in Security Gateway R81.20

I am planning to install the Jumbo Hotfix Take 120 in my Security Gateway, but upon verification, the result is not allowed due to insufficient storage in my  opt/Cpda/Backup partition.  As I checked the directory, there is nothing I can delete to clean up the space, the only thing that is in there is the files of my currently installed fix.  I tried deleting the files of my currently installed fix then tried verficatio again but now it is not allowed due to last take files is not in the partition.

could you connect to the firewall in SSH, and perform the command df-h

Then perform ls -l of the Backup directory to verify what is in that directory.

Thanks.

that's a very misleading message, very disappointed with check point

the problem is not that folder but the root directory

try to:

find /  -size +200M | grep -v /var/log | xargs ls -lharS and clean up your bigger file into / (excluded /var/log of course)

do not delete files into that folder related to current JHF or upgrade will fail

Hi,

Please check

/opt/CPda/repository

If the system had a lot of upgrades old installtion files could be there.
You can remove them if needed.

Is this safe to do? I checked last time that there are lots of files of previous takes in the repository. Is it safe to delete them?

Just dont delete anything from LastTake dir, those are needed for next jumbo install.

Just to be safe. I will backup first all the files in that directory before deleting it. Will try this, thanks

These are the only files that is in my repository, I am currently running R81.20 with Take 105. I tried removing the files with R81.20, but still not enough and need more spaces.

It's not the folder that's the issue, it's the whole partition that the folder is in. There's probably other things you can delete.

You can try something like below:

find /opt/Cpda -size +300M (from expert mode, that would search for any files bigger than 300Mbs). Just make sure not to remove any database files, as that would corrupt the system once rebooted.

Best,
Andy

Hi,

Please use the following article to fin large files:

https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk60316

Is this gateway running for quit some time? Maybe someone left debug files on the system. Old packages in some directories or large fw monitor files that were never removed.

If a gateway has gone through a lot of (major) upgrades and is running for some time, you could think about a re-image.
Create a backup, save the CLI output and re-image the appliance using a USB.

Use the CLI output to configure the appliance, connect to the SmartCenter, install the license and you are done.
It takes some time, but you start with a clean disk.
