Increased number of CPU R80.40

Hi Mates

I have noticed something different after upgrading from R80.20 to R80.40. My apppliance had 20 CPUs, after the upgrade I now see 40 CPUs (I have attached images).

Is there any technical explanation to this behavior?

Thanks in advance.

@Di_Junior

with R80.40 Hyperthreading will be enabled, this doubles your CPUs.

You can check the state with „cat /proc/smt_status“

Have a look at SMT (HyperThreading) Feature Guide

6200 only has 2 physical cores, 4 when SMT is active:

If you run cat /proc/cpuinfo (please post the results here) and look up the processor type at ark.intel.com, you can see further processor specifications.

Further, the number of cores supported by your Open Server license will appear to double as well.
That is expected behavior for R80.40 and R81, but is expected to change in the future.

Actually the cat /proc/smt_status command no longer works under Gaia 3.10, use command cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/smt/active
1=active
0=inactive

We have 6200Plus appliances which show SMT status as 1 - active

However both show only 4 cpus available in cpview and top.

What am i missing here?

thanks
