Best way to upgrade the MDS to R82 from R81.10

Hi Team,

We are not able to upgrade our MDS due to the restrictions in the storage partition that are being done in the new versions.

We currently have 2 storage partition as there were IO issues which was causing delays with the login. So we created partition and was working till date without any issues. 1 partition for logging and the other is for the rest. IO issues solved only after doing this.

Now Checkpoint is not letting to upgrade the MDS with 2 partitions. Hence seeking suggestion to upgrade the MDS from R81.10 to R82. If we do clean install will the backup and restore work?

If we are doing so the IPs will be the problem right? So what are the suggestions. Any help on this is much appreciated.

Regards,

Sanjay S

Backup/restore only works to same version/JHF level.
See: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk91400

What you need to do here is an Advanced Migration which involves using the migration tools to make an export of the MDS where R82 is the target version.
Perform a clean install and import the configuration.

Note the migration tools only gets the Security Management configuration (not Gaia OS or logs), which will have to be backed up/restored separately.
For the Gaia OS configuration, most of it should be in the result of a "show configuration" on the original MDS.
