Upgrade CMA R77.30 to R80.30: Some CMA has smartevent file empty

Hi all,

I upgrade MDS from R77.30 to R80.30 and some CMA has there smartevent empty. When I try to choose the fw.log file it says that this file is empty.

This issue is only on some cma.

Do you know how to solve this issue ?

What precise steps did you take to perform the upgrade?

 this is what I see on smarconsole of one CMA :

When I try to do a telnet port 257 from the firewall to the cma it says that the connection is refused.

When I go to the mds, tcpdump show that the cma send a reset.

Check in Dashboard that the failing CMA has logging enabled of so turn it off (you may need to change the log destination on the gateway first), publish and turn it back on and publish and the gateway is set to log to the CMA, publish and then install database.

Done,
Logs are sent only from the firewall to the backup CMA.
The active CMA send a reset on port 257 when the firewall try to connect

Are you sure the backup CMA is still the backup? Sometimes you need to install database a couple of times and that does not resolver the issue get in contact with TAC to let them have a look why the log daemon is not listening on the primary.

Yes I am sure. I have run "cpstat mg" commande to verify the status of each cma.
I have try to delete the backup cma from the logs object firewall, install the database and push policy. But the log demon is still not running on the primary cma.
