Because I don't found exactly time, I can not find which process lead to this issue. Who can give me some advice? THX!
Best Regards!
Do you have Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator installed? If yes, is it one of recent versions?
I would recommend to look into historic data in cpview to find some additional information:
cpview -t <timestamp>
Shows either the oldest available content, or from a given <timestamp>, where <timestamp> format is: [Jan...Dec] [01...31] [4-digit Year] [hh:mm:ss]
Example: [Expert@HostName]# cpview -t Oct 24 2016 10:54:15
You can go to somewhere close to the time with high CPU usage and use +/- buttons to move in cpview logs.
Hi Aleksei,
It seem that it's not a bug and cpview -t <timestamp> is not work in SMS.
Smart-1> cpview -t Mar 25 2018 23:14:23
CPView: Failed to open history database
Best Regards!
LikeL like history is disabled, check with
cpview history stat
[Expert@Smart-1:0]# cpview history stat
Usage: cpview [ [-c <conf_file>] | [-p] ] | [-b [-t
[-i <count>] [-j] [-l <filesize>] ] | [-s]]
-c Loads configuration from <conf_file>
-p Prints all cpview data
-b Print batch statistics data
-t In the background, data is dumped into logs. Time interval is
seconds before the new dump info is generated. The value of
must be greater than 30. The log is saved to var/log/cpview
-i Limit dump info to <count> times
-j Compresses the generated logs after you run cpview -b -s to stop the instance
-l Change log file size limit to <filesize>MB (default: 1024MB)
-s Stops "cpview -b" instance that runs in the background
[Expert@Smart-1:0]# exit
exit

Smart-1>
haha, not used to SMS - only ever worked on MDS that does not have cpview and gateway or standalones that have history option. sorry, have to leave it for someone with SMS/Smart-1 experience
Have you looked at the messages file for the same timestamps?
Looks like there is a indexing task running every 3 hours and 10 minutes (190 mins), also look at crontab -l to see if anything is scheduled in cron.
That is correct - so you should be able to predict next high CPU and then run cpview in the backgound (reading the help you provided)
cpview -b -t 30 to start it
cpview -s to stop
cpview -p to print it out when done
worth a shot
Yes, I had saw messages and crontab -l find out the problem. thx!
What did it end up being?
The Smart1-5 was an under-powered platform when it was released in Jun 2009. It was effectively a laptop platform in a rack-mount chassis. I doubt has multi-core CPU and memory was minimal. This means the most simple scheduled system event could cause significant resource consumption and spikes.
A little known fact is that the Smart1-5 license container will successfully attach to open-server build of R77.30 on vmware. this is not technically supported but has been used by local CP team to connect dots to new renewal and hardware upgrade to Smart1-205 (or 405 now).
