Web SmartConsole - Global Properties still not available

Each time I try to use the Web version of SmartConsole, I quickly give up, because so many features are missing or don’t work properly.

Recently, I was away from my R82.10 lab without a laptop. I was able to use Capsule Connect to VPN (from an iPad that has the appropriate certificate installed), in to my network and I was then able to access the Web GUI on my Firewall Manager and Security Gateway. This allowed me to perform Snapshots and install the latest Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator and IKEv1 Hotfix. This worked really well and I have no complaints.

However, it’s still not possible to edit or even view any Global Properties using the Web version of SmartConsole. This is such a major flaw and makes it pretty much unusable. At CPX2025 (Vienna) there was a commitment to develop feature parity in the Web version of SmartConsole with the Windows version, but I see little improvement since then and more than a year has passed.

Is the continued enhancement of the Web version of SmartConsole still a priority?

Hi @ccsjnw ,

Thank you for taking the time to share the feedback and the detailed example.

Web SmartConsole continues to evolve, and over the past year we've delivered a significant number of new capabilities and improvements. Recent releases included significant additions across policy management, VPN-related workflows, object management, operational workflows, and other areas that were previously available only through the Windows SmartConsole.

Regarding Global Properties, this is very valuable feedback. Since Global Properties covers a fairly broad set of settings, it would be helpful to better understand which specific Global Properties you are looking to view or modify most frequently. That information can help us better evaluate the impact and prioritize the most valuable scenarios.

I'm also interested in hearing more broadly about the workflows that currently cause you to switch back to the Windows SmartConsole. Direct feedback like this helps us focus our efforts on the areas that provide the most value to administrators and customers.

Feel free to share additional details here, or reach out to me directly if you'd like to discuss further: [email protected] / [email protected]

Thank you again for the feedback and for helping us improve the product.

A good start would be supporting the Global Properties that already have API support: https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/latest/APIs/index.html#cli/set-global-properties~v2.1%20

Thanks for your reply.

Is there an active development blog and timeline for the Web version of SmartConsole that we can view?
It would be good to get clarity over what features are being prioritised and when they are expected to become available.
Also, it would be useful to see what improved features and workflows have been delivered already.

One of my frustrations is that lots was discussed and promised at CPX 2025 (to the audience at large, but also to me personally when discussing in-depth technical issues with the CheckPoint team on a one to one basis at the technical booth - however over a year has passed, and none of the promise technical issues have been addressed, and there's been little or no news on many of the 'coming soon' features that were announced.

The cancellation of CPX is very regrettable, but I guess it's a sign of the times.

Some of this is documented in sk170314, R82.20 EA release notes also contains mentions of additional scenarios.

Connecting with Tal is the way to go for further insight. RFEs always help to prioritize things.
