Intermittent Ping Drops After Quantum Spark R82 Upgrade

Hello Experts,

After upgrading a Quantum Spark 2000 series appliance from R81.10.10 to R82, we started seeing intermittent ping drops.

The issue did not occur on R81.10.x. ICMP packet loss occurs irregularly for about 30 seconds, then recovers, but happens again later.

Environment:

  • Product: Quantum Spark 2000 series
  • Version: R81.10.10 → R82.00.10 (Build 998001562)
  • Management: Cloud-managed
  • Cluster: No

No obvious configuration changes were made other than the firmware upgrade.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue after upgrading to R82?

Are there any known issues, recommended fixes, hotfixes, or settings we should check?

Thank you.

The latest build of R82.00.10 is 2133. See sk184357.

Agree with Alex, if the problem persists after upgrading please consult TAC to troubleshoot further.

If ping issue occurs, you test from client behind towards internet? Or from firewall towards internet? Any other issues?

What if you ping next hop IP (isp router)? Try couple tests. If you suspect firmware upgrade I would also recommend to upgrade to latest image.

After that TAC case. I know for certain specific issue a new image is available via TAC only. Only one way to get it, open TAC case maybe this is a known issue. I also expect soon a new image.

Also, direct upgrade from R81.10.10 to R82.00.XX is not supported.

See sk184492.

It is recommended that you take a 2 step upgrade starting from R81.10.17 (B4721) first before upgrading to R82.
As others already mentioned, for R82.00.XX It's recommended to upgrade to the latest GA build which is B2133.
