Migrate Export from R77.30 (Windows) to R80.20 (GAIA)

Hi Team,

I have a customer who has installed CP Mgmt on Window server R77.30. Now they want to upgrade it to R80.20. Please help me with the document on how can I export the Policies and all from the Window Server Mgmt as I'm not much familiar with Window OS version checkpoint. I have got the Migrate Export Tool for R80.20 for Windows - https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal/role/supportcenterUser/page/default.psml/m...

Please help me with the document or procedures/commands which I need to follow on Window Server 77.30 Mgmt server to export the database and policies so that I can import it to the new Mgmt Server.

It's a bit urgent, please help.

Thanks,

CSR

Hi,

To migrate from R77.30 to R80.20 use the following documentation:

https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/R80.20_GA/WebAdminGuides/EN/CP_R80.20_Installation_and_Upgrade_...

I would suggest migrating to R80.40 which currently the recommended default version by Check Point.

Hi,

I already have these upgradation documents. But i need to export the management database from Windows version R77.30 version so please help ke with the related documents if have any. Once databse migrated and exported from windows management i can import it to newly installed latest mgmt server.

But the main problem is that I don't know how export the database from windows version mgmt server R77.30.

Any document or process commands would be much appreciated.

Tha ks

These are the Migrate Tools for Windows:

https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal/role/supportcenterUser/page/default.psml/m...

Use the tools to migrate and then continue on the new machine following the instructions in the Installation and Upgrade Guide - search for the page:

Upgrading a Security Management Server from R80.10 and lower with Migration

At a very high level:

1. migrate export db.tgz (from Windows mgmt)

2. Fresh install R80.20, copy db.tgz to new system

3. After first-time wizard: migrate import db.tgz

By default this will take the configuration but no logs.
The documentation Tal linked above has more details.
However, I also second the recommendation to go to R80.40 as it is the widely recommended release and has significant improvements from R80.20.
Just make sure you take the migrate export using the migration tools for the version you wish to migrate to.
