[Question] Restore Behavior for Smart-1 Cloud Quantum Spark

Hello Team,

I’m planning hardware failure recovery (DR) for our Quantum Spark gateway connected to Smart-1 Cloud.
We back up the gateway using the Gaia Portal.

If the main gateway (Gateway A) fails, we plan to restore its backup to a spare unit (Gateway B).
In this case, Gateway B will have the same SIC passphrase and object as Gateway A and will try to connect to Smart-1 Cloud.
However, Object A is still linked to the original Gateway A.

I’d like to confirm how Smart-1 Cloud handles this situation.

What I’d like to know

1. Will the original Gateway A take priority and keep the connection, or will Gateway B overwrite it and disconnect Gateway A?

2. If you have any other good ideas or best practices for this kind of recovery, please let me know!

If GW A has a hardware failure, it will not be able to keep connections any longer ! And as you have to replace GW A you will use its cables for the replacement. A re-license in WebGUI will be needed.

Just to confirm my understanding:
As a general DR practice, if we restore the backup to the same appliance, we can reconnect with the existing object on Smart-1 Cloud using the existing SIC trust.

However, if we restore the backup to a different appliance, my understanding is that we should either create a new object on Smart-1 Cloud and establish SIC for that new object, or reset the SIC of the existing object and reconnect.

Is my understanding correct?
If you have any best practices or recommendations for this kind of recovery scenario, I would really appreciate your advice!

- restoring a backup of the same device will usually change nothing. SIC should work.

- restoring a backup from another device but same model and firmware will replace the license with the license from the backup, so you will have to re-license it. SIC should work.
